My first attempt at Ombre nails

I think I did pretty good for my first time. It's not as neat as I would have liked but over all I love this design! It was pretty easy and I think with time I can perfect this. I got the idea from surfing various videos on youtube. I will describe my process but feel free to do your own research.

You will need:
-Finger nail polish remover for clean up
-water
-a clean makeup sponge
-3 different colors (they can be 3 shades of the same color or completely different)
-Q tips
1. Start with clean nails and apply a base color. I used Sinful Colors 'Easy Going' (#300), which is a very pale pink. The purpose of this coat is to make the colors pop! You could also use white or nude.
2. Now it's time to prepare your sponge. Usually they are triangular but I cut mine so that it wasnt too much bigger than my finger to cut down on the access. Dip the sponge in water and ring out the access water.

3. In the order you want the colors to appear on your nail, apply a generous amount of polish across the flat end of the sponge. I used Sally Hansen Hard as Nails 'Heart of Stone' (#230), Xtreme Wear 'Fuchsia Power' (#23) and Sinful Colors '24/7' (#920).

4. Roll the painted end of the sponge across your finger from left to right, this should leave a light impression of the three colors on your finger. The more you do this the darker your colors will be. It should look something like this :

5. Dip the Qtip in finger nail polish remover and use this to clean up the access polish on your nail.
6. Repeat steps 3-5 for each finger. When you are done apply a clear top coat and your done!

OOTD

Today I was cute and quirky! This outfit was perfect for running errands but with this color palette you could wear this as a casual fourth of July ensemble.
The simple white, scoop neck tee-shirt was 5/$20 at Wetseal. The jeans are the Stella boot cut in dark wash from Express. The messenger bag was on sale at Sears for $14. The brand name on the purse is Lulu nyc. The shoes were given to me by a family member so I'm not sure how much or where they are from but I do know the brand name is Mia. I get tones of compliments on these shoes when I wear them. They are patent leather, red sling back flats. Truly a thing of beauty!
And adding a special touch, my Pacific Blue nails add a patriotic flair to the red and white colors of the outfit.
To disguise my bad hair day I put my hair into a bun and tied a thin scarf into a mini mouse bow. This attracted a LOT of attention, but good attention I think lol. I got this scarf from Target for $14. The red stud earrings I'm wearing are from Wetseal and the silver necklace is also from Target.

I had a lot of fun wearing this outfit! It was really easy to put together because it is essentially a tee-shirt and jeans. You could add any color accessories to spice this up and I love having that much room for creativity.

Products I love!

Today I polished my nails with one of my favorite nail polishes from the Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Xtreme wear nail color line. This color is called Pacific Blue (#420). I really LOVE these nail polishes because they cover extremely well, are very pigmented and last pretty long. In the picture below I only used ONE coat! I think the flash on my camera washes out some of the color but this is really a beautiful blue that I think compliments any skin tone. The name is very fitting, it reminds me of the Caribbean or the ocean. Every time I wear this color I get tons of compliments. I pretty much alternate between this nail color brand and sinful colors when buying nail polish. This brand is usually about $2-$3 at Walmart which is a steal!

**I was not sent these products to review, Everything was bought with my own money :)

Beach Outfit of the Day (OOTD)

I had a great day at the beach with my family today! I loved my skimpy lil outfit. I got the top from express last year on clearance for $20 bucks, the cut off jean shorts from Aerospotale and my sun hat from Target. The cute little bow purse is from Payless! I got this for about $12 bucks with a coupon and my jewelry, gold hoop earrings and a gold pendant necklace, from forever 21.

I had reservations about the outfit, even though i felt confident in it, but after being in the 95 degree weather and walking across the blazing sand I was appreciative of my bare mid drift and legs!
I got my swim Suit from Pac Sun. I love the ruffles at the top, it gives it such a flirty look. My sunglasses were $5 from forever 21 also.

Diagonal Nail Design

In this look I used Sally Hansen Hard as nails Xtreme wear nail color in Lacey Lilac (#270) and invisible (#100) as my base and top coat. I also used NYX Perfect Gray (#171) as my accent.

This was my first attempt at polishing my own nails with a design this intricate, I think I did a pretty good job...

What you will need:
-Clear tape
-two or more nail polish colors
-finger nail polish and Q-tips for clean up :)
Step By Step:
1. Start with Clean nails and apply a thin base coat.
2. After this dries, add which ever color you want to be the base coat. Since there are only two colors it doesn't really matter which you chose. I Polished all of my nails with Lacey Lilac.
3. Wait 5-10 minutes, or however long it will take your nails to dry.
4. After the base color has dried take a piece or clear tape, about and inch long and apply it to your nails diagonally.
***I stuck the tape to my bare leg twice before applying it to my nail. I found that this made the tape less sticky which helped because it was peeling off my base coat. Also I alternated my diagonal colors, purple on top to gray on top. You can do this, switch it up with different colors or keep it uniformed throughout***
5. After applying the tape polish the untapped portion of your nail with the second color and allow to dry for at least 5 minutes! You don't want to pull it off while the second color is still wet because it will bleed!
6. remove the tape and continue to dry.
7. repeat for all of your nails and add your clear top coat. *For a special touch I added a purple flower rhinestone to my pinkie fingers. I just used the clear polish to apply it, no glue! I got the rhinestones from CVS, the sell them where ever nail polish is sold. *

Hopefully this is helpful. Try it out and let me know how your nail turn out!
